Notice to Airmen (NOTAM)NATCA represents eight employees at the FAA's David J. Hurley Air Traffic Control Systems Command Center in Herndon, VA in the air traffic control specialists' U.S. Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) Office (USNOF) Unit. The members in this bargaining unit are responsible for operation compliance in accordance with polices and procedures. They communicate to pilots on any issue that impacts safety of flight. The Federal Labor Relations Authority issued its Certification of Representative document on March 23, 1999. Its interim agreement has been signed, implemented and included in the controllers' contract with traffic management coordinators. There are ongoing efforts to include these employees under a new pay structure. Within NATCA, this bargaining unit is further combined with the air traffic control specialists and traffic management specialists located in terminal and en route facilities. What Do These Members Do? NOTAMS are an important component of the air traffic control system at the Herndon command center. NOTAMS provide aeronautical information essential to safety, regularity, efficiency of air navigation and relative to the route stages originating at the aerodrome. This information is made available to flight operation personnel, including flight crews and services responsible for pre-flight, en route and arrival information.
