1. Avoid the morning and afternoon congestion. Try to arrive or depart from ATL between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to avoid both the morning “push” of traffic coming in and out and the afternoon “rush hours” that will be made worse by the inevitable thunderstorms that hit in the summer months.
2. Try to avoid flying into the airports that experience a lot of delays. The airports that you are likely to experience the most frequent and lengthy delays when trying to depart Atlanta are Chicago O’Hare, Newark, New York-LaGuardia, Charlotte and Houston (Intercontinental).
3. Try to fly anytime on Saturday or on Sunday morning. You are less likely to experience delays if you schedule your flights for these times.
