Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (LAS)

LAS

Las Vegas McCarran International Airport (LAS)

1.  If at all possible avoid traveling into or out of Las Vegas on Thursday, Friday or Sunday.  These are by far the busiest travel days at the airport.  If you must travel on these days then plan ahead and try to schedule your flight as early in the day as possible. Remember, the earlier the better when flying on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

2.  Special conventions and events bring extra volume to Las Vegas.  If at all possible avoid traveling during these event weekends. Some examples would be: CES and MAGIC conventions, as well as New Year’s Eve and Cinco de Mayo weekends.  If you will be attending these events the same rule applies as listed above, travel as early in the day as possible, because by 9:00 a.m. on these weekends the airport becomes very busy.

3.  If at all possible plan to arrive or depart on Tuesdays and/or Saturdays.  The lines at check-in and security are a fraction of what you’ll see on other days. If you don’t like waiting in line, these are the days to travel.

4.  Be prepared for security and know ahead of time what you’re not allowed to carry onto the plane.  Read the signs posted in the security lines and know what to do when it’s your turn.  If possible wear slip on shoes and don’t forget to take that cell phone out of your pocket.
