Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)
1. Avoiding departure delays. The best time to depart out of LAX is in the early morning hours from 6:15 a.m. until approximately 8:30 a.m. By leaving this early you will miss most of the famous L.A. area traffic and these early morning departures are not quite as busy as the mid-day departure slots. Also, summer thunderstorms in the desert are not as bad early in the morning, which makes for a less bumpy ride.
2. Best time to arrive and depart from LAX. The overall best time for avoiding delays into and out of LAX is between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. LAX tends to slow down during this time frame, allowing passengers to easily make connections into and out of the airport.
3. International flight tips. The best time to depart on an international flight would be the late night time frame from 11:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. The airport is busy at this time, but not as busy as the mid-day departures that most international carriers tend to use. If you are not flying international, try to avoid flights that arrive at LAX between 11:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. It is common for LAX to run out of gates and aircraft often have to wait out on the taxiways for one to open up. However, departures during this time frame tend to run smoothly.
