NATCA Puts a Quick Stop to Unilaterally Imposed Watch Schedule

On Friday, Sept. 10, NATCA negotiated the settlement of a potential grievance regarding schedules with RVA, Inc. One of RVA’s tower managers attempted to impose a new watch schedule without consulting with the facility representative or providing six-months advanced notice as required by the contract. NATCA raised the potential grievance and ULP issues with RVA headquarters and the local manager was ordered to meet with the local facility representative to begin negotiations on the watch schedule. As a result of NATCA’s timely action and the vigilance of the local facility representative, NATCA controllers were not forced to work on a unilaterally imposed schedule in violation of the contract and the law.
