NATCA Settles Telework Grievance

NATCA recently negotiated a favorable settlement in an Aircraft Certification case involving telework. The bargaining unit employee was working under a telework agreement pursuant to the Air contract and the FAA national telework policy. The union filed the grievance because the FAA regional office imposed an addendum to the telework policy that unlawfully restricted the employee's use of telework. In addition, the union grieved the agency's decision to deny the employee's request to switch his telework day due to inclement weather. The union was successful in forcing the agency withdraw the illegal addendum for the entire region. The union also obtained restored annual leave for the employee as part of the settlement.
