Communicating for Safety 2012
Thursday, September 15, 2011

Communicating for Safety is NATCA’s premier safety event. If you have attended before, you know it’s informative, educational, and a lot of fun. CFS 2012 is no exception. We anticipate even better presentations, more dynamic speakers, and an action packed agenda all three days, so if this is your first year attending, you’re in for a treat!

Plan to arrive on Monday morning Jan. 30 and depart Thursday, Feb. 2 in order to take advantage of all of the presentations and activities, including the Archie League Medal of Safety Awards banquet on the evening of Feb. 1. This semi-formal dinner and award ceremony is an integral part of the CFS experience and is simply not to be missed.

We anticipate that all NATCA members will be eligible for approximately 24 hours of excused absence to attend the conference (these days are normally designated as Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday only, Jan. 30, Jan. 31 and Feb. 1). In accordance with the ATC/TMU/NOTAM and Staff Specialists NATCA/FAA CBA Article 29 Section 6, be sure to sign up to get your name on the Excused Absence list and notify your facility management of your intent to attend. This is not the same as registering for the conference, but you can conveniently register and put your name on the duty time list at the same Web site this year:  Click on “Register for CFS” and you are on your way.

As in the past, NATCA will pay 100 percent of a participant’s room charge and tax if they share a room with another dues-paying member and 50 percent of the room/tax if they don’t. The nights covered this year will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The NATCA calendar is pretty full during the first half of 2012. We are confident, though, that attendance at CFS will be strong and that everyone who attends will learn a lot and have a great time networking and socializing with his or her NATCA brothers and sisters, as well as with the pilot community.

Watch your email for frequent updates, a mobile app link, presentation schedules and information about CFS 2012. We look forward to seeing you there!
