BTV Member Needs Our Help To Fight Young Son's Disease
Thursday, November 03, 2011

Burlington, Vt. (BTV) Member Ray DiGiovanni needs the help of his NATCA family.

Ray and his wife Shannon have two sons. One, a beautiful two-year-old boy, Chase, has recently been diagnosed with Niemann-Pick C Disease, a fatal condition that currently has no cure. NPC is a lysosomal storage disease with approximately 500 reported cases currently. This autosomally recessive genetic disorder causes progressive deterioration of the nervous system. It typically affects children by interfering with their ability to metabolize cholesterol. Adult onset can also occur but tends to progress far more slowly. Cholesterol accumulates in the liver, spleen, and brain. To help put it in perspective, its also referred to as Childhood Alzheimers.

Ray and Shannon have set up a Web site to help raise money for research and medical expenses: www.chasethecure.net

On behalf of Ray and his family, we ask that you please consider helping them in any way that you can in this difficult ordeal.

Ray can be reached at rzr0241@yahoo.com.
