NATCA Membership By the Numbers
Friday, February 03, 2012

NATCA membership has continued to remain strong, as the union goes into 2012 with 15,500 union members, including 13,561 FAA air traffic controllers.

While federal controllers make up over 85 percent of the union’s membership, there has been continued growth in the federal contract tower (FCT) sector, even if it remains a small portion of NATCA overall. There are now 186 FCT controllers, which is nearly a 30 percent increase over just three years ago.

After FAA controllers, the second highest group of members is comprised of administrative engineers, of which there are 494. There are also 491 retired dues-paying members, 421 traffic management coordinators and 356 staff specialists.
