Your Stories, Your Words

From the wildfires out west, to Tropical Storm Debby to the violent line of thunderstorms that brought hurricane-force winds through Ohio, West Virginia and the mid-Atlantic region, our members have had their hands full on the job in many locations the past few weeks.

What has it been like to work air traffic in these and other challenging weather and natural disaster situations? How did you feel when you unplugged from position? What kind of team effort was required to keep your airspace safe?

Share your stories. Please send us an email (send to Hillary Stroud, hstroud@natcadc.org) by Tuesday, July 17. Please keep your submission to 600 words or less. We will choose one submission as the best overall and print it on Page 2 of our upcoming summer issue of the quarterly Air Traffic Controller. The winner will also receive an expenses-paid trip to either Communicating for Safety (Las Vegas) or NATCA in Washington next year (winner's choice).

All other submissions will be featured online in upcoming issues of The NATCA Insider, and posted both on the NATCA Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/NATCAfamily) and on the NATCA Twitter page (https://twitter.com/#!/NATCA).

Be sure to check out additional feature opportunities for publication in future issues of the Air Traffic Controller.
