This Week’s News and Notes: Please Help ZTL Member in Need
Thursday, October 18, 2012
Atlanta Center member Ian Kelley and his wife, Jessica, are going through a very difficult and tragic time. Ian is in the Voluntary Leave Transfer Program (VLTP) and needs the help of NATCA brothers and sisters with donations.
A few weeks ago, Ian and Jessica’s 4-year-old son, Henry, wasn't feeling well and they took him to the hospital. Henry was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. Emergency surgery was performed. However, the surgeons could only remove about half of the tumor. The remaining tumor was diagnosed as fatal. Ian and Jessica have taken Henry home to care for him and make his last weeks as comfortable as possible.
In order for Ian and Jessica to be able to stay at home as well as absorb the extra expense of the hospital bills, he has been approved for the VLTP. We are asking for your help to get Ian the time away from work so that he can be with his wife and son. In addition to this, his ZTL family has been collecting donations.
You can view our online database of all NATCA members needing leave donations here:
We ask that you please consider making a donation to assist them if you have leave to spare and we thank you for any help you can provide.
If you know a member that is also in the VLTP and needs to be added to our database, please email Director of Communications Doug Church (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Archie League Award Nominations Due Dec. 31
The ninth annual Archie League Medal of Safety Awards will be presented on March 6, 2013 at Communicating for Safety (CFS) in Las Vegas. We are now accepting nominations for the awards through Dec. 31.
Please take a few moments to think of notable and extraordinary efforts made by your brothers and sisters at the facility this year to ensure safety. They would be great candidates for an Archie League Medal of Safety award and we urge you to nominate them.
