morning, completing a 17-day period in which air traffic controllers and
all FAA safety and technical employees went above and beyond the call
of duty in unprecedented circumstances to keep the surrounding air space

Hundreds of NATCA members at two dozen facilities within and surrounding
Chicago Center (ZAU) airspace are concluding a second full week of
continuing to safely and efficiently handle the massive amount of air
traffic control responsibilities caused by the Sept. 26 fire at ZAU that

Following a fire last Friday that closed the Chicago Air Route Traffic
Control Center (ZAU) in Aurora, Ill., hundreds of air traffic
controllers at more than a dozen key facilities are continuing to safely
move as much air traffic flow into, out of and around the Chicago area

Although Mr. Poli was never affiliated with NATCA, he led air traffic
controllers on strike in 1981 and made clear the need for more just and

From NBAA: "The earthquake shattered the windows in the tower, putting it temporarily out of service, but operations are continuing with radio clearances from nearby Oakland Center. There is already a contractor on-site repairing the tower, and airport authorities have set up a temporary tower on the airfield, which should be operational during the first week of September."
