Mineta, Garvey Highlight List of Speakers as NATCA Hosts Annual Legislative Conference - (5/8/2001)
WASHINGTON - The National Air Traffic Controllers Association will host its annual legislative conference next week with a dual focus - emphasizing the role it wants to play in shaping the future of air traffic control and informing lawmakers of the numerous ways NATCA is working to help improve and modernize the system.
The conference will take place Monday, May 14 through Thursday, May 17 at the Hyatt Regency Washington, D.C., on Capitol Hill, 400 New Jersey Ave., N.W. (202/737-1234). Many prominent speakers will highlight the event. A partial itinerary:
TUESDAY, MAY 15
9:10 a.m. - John Carr, NATCA President
9:30 a.m. - Norman Mineta, Secretary of Transportation
10:15 a.m. - Tom Chapman, leader of Southwest Airlines’ governmental affairs
10:45 a.m. - Ed Merlis, Air Transport Association Senior Vice President
Noon - Jane Garvey, Federal Aviation Administration Administrator
1:30 p.m. - Fuzz Bhimji, Canadian Air Traffic Control Association President
2:00 p.m. - Rep. Jim Matheson, D-Utah
2:30 p.m. - Sen. Max Cleland, D-Ga.
