On June 16, 2020, the Agency briefed NATCA regarding intended upgrades to the National Offload Program (NOP).  The NOP system maintains data used by numerous applications in support of the National Airspace System (NAS).  The NOP software toolset is currently supported by hardware in 168 different air traffic radar facilities, where each facility processes and stores data locally.  As part of the upgrade to NOP 2.0, this data will be migrated to a centralized cloud-based system that will be accessible to all applications.  The Agency expects that applications will begin utilizing NOP 2.0 in July 2020, and legacy NOP will be decommissioned by the end of Fiscal Year 2020.  During the briefing, NATCA expressed its interest in participating in testing NOP 2.0 before legacy NOP is decommissioned to ensure a smooth transition of the data and protect against any negative effects to the NAS.
