TECHNICAL OPERATIONS SERVICES DISTRICT OPTIMIZATION
On September 16, 2020, the Agency provided NATCA a follow-up briefing regarding its intent to align Technical Operations Services (AJW) with the airspace boundaries of the Air Route Traffic Control Centers through a process called District Optimization. The Agency initially briefed NATCA about this issue on February 12, 2020. District Optimization will result in twenty-two districts within the Agency’s three Service Areas.
As part of this District Optimization, a small group of engineers will be reassigned from the Eastern Service Area to the Central Service Area, but their duty locations will not change. Additionally, AJW will expand to include the Environmental and Occupational Safety and Health (EOSH) programs for Mission Support Services (AJV). As a result of this expansion, a small group of employees will move from AJV to AJW and will report to new supervisors. Their duty locations will not change.
