On Tuesday, September 15, 2020, the Agency notified NATCA of its plans to implement and to disseminate the Western Pacific Regional Office Building Return Procedures, which govern the procedures and protocol that takes place at the Agency’s Western Pacific Regional Office as it moves closer towards Phase 1 of its COVID-19 recovery plan.  NATCA responded to the Agency’s notice by requesting a full briefing to obtain an explanation of any proposed changes that would take place in the regional office as the Agency shifts towards Phase 1, and to ensure that no change would adversely impact bargaining unit employees (BUEs).  A briefing was held on Monday, October 19, 2020.

During the briefing, the Agency explained the procedures and protocol it developed to transition to Phase 1, providing detailed information concerning the return to work process, how the regional office will be laid out to promote safety and social distancing, and more.  All BUEs, and others within the regional office, will be required to wear facial coverings when in common areas and when it is not possible to follow the social distancing guideline of maintaining at least six feet of distance between individuals.  Additionally, when Phase 1 is implemented and BUEs begin returning to work, each BUE will receive a welcome bag, containing supplies like hand sanitizer and facial coverings, and documentation outlining the changes in procedures at the regional office during Phase 1.

NATCA will monitor the Agency’s data and decision-making in the Western Pacific Regional Office, and will ensure that, on the Regional level, NATCA has a role in collaborating and addressing any arising issues.
