EXECUTIVE ORDER INCREASING MINIMUM WAGE FOR FEDERAL CONTRACTORS BRIEFING
On Wednesday, May 19, 2021, NATCA was notified by the Agency of its plans to implement President Biden’s Executive Order (EO) Increasing the Minimum Wage for Federal Contractors, which mandates that federal contractors earn $15 per hour as a minimum wage. The EO mandates that these modifications to pay are to be made no later than January 2022; however, the Agency chose to implement the changes ahead of schedule and to be more inclusive. In addition to federal contractors, the Agency notified NATCA that it will raise the wages of all Air Traffic Control (ATC) student trainees above the $15, including locality, as has been set by EO. NATCA responded by requesting a full briefing to obtain an explanation of the changes.
A briefing was held on Thursday, July 1, 2021.
NATCA is happy that the pay increases were effectuated ahead of the EO deadline, and that the Agency chose to include ATCS student trainees and all future ATCS student trainees.
