CFS Registration Information for Members

There are three steps for NATCA members to complete registration for Communicating For Safety 2018:

     1. Request to be put on the excused absence list by Aug. 28, 2018.

     2. Submit the Local Facility Request to Attend CFS form to your FacRep and ATM. CLICK HERE

     3. Register for CFS. CLICK HERE.

Notes about excused absences:

  • The deadline to place your name on the Excused Absence Request Form is August 28, 2018.
  • There is no consequence for requesting the excused absence only to find out later you can’t attend.
  • You must fill out the Local Facility Request to Attend CFS form and submit to your FacRep and ATM immediately after placing your name on the Excused Absence Request Form.
  • Placing your name on the Excused Absence Request Form is NOT an automatic approval and release from your facility to attend. This is determined locally based on staffing and other circumstances.

Communicating for Safety is NATCA’s premier safety event. If you’ve attended before, you know that it’s informative and educational; CFS 2018 will be no exception. We are working on an educational agenda full of great presentations and dynamic speakers during the three-day safety conference.

We continually strive to improve the CFS experience by providing meaningful learning opportunities, including:

  • NATCA Charitable Events
  • Expanded Facility Participation
  • CONFIRMED SPEAKER: Gordon Graham Tuesday, October 23

Plan to arrive on Monday, October 22, by noon and depart Thursday, October 25, in order to take advantage of all of the presentations and activities; including the Archie League Award Banquet on the evening of Wednesday, October 24. This semi-formal dinner and award ceremony is an integral part of the CFS experience and should not be missed.

NATCA will begin discussions with the agency soon to determine the amount of excused absence that will be allowed for NATCA members to attend. We will keep you posted on the progress of these discussions.

Rooming:

NATCA will pay 100 percent of a participant’s room charge and tax, if they share a room with another dues-paying active member and 50 percent of the room/tax if they do not for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights only for up to sixteen NATCA members per local. Lodging costs for members in excess of sixteen per local will be calculated under the current policy, with the cost being deducted from the local’s quarterly dues rebates, per local policy.

Additional nights stay will be at your own expense. The room rate is $164.00 plus the current rate of 13.38% tax per night (tax is subject to change). Single rooms will cost you $82.00 (plus tax) for the approved nights with additional nights at $164.00 (plus tax).

Please check our website for updates, mobile app link, presentation schedules and information about CFS 2018. We look forward to seeing you there!

If you need to make any changes to your rooming type or roommate please see the below section: “How do I CHANGE or CANCEL my CFS registration?”

How do I reserve a room for CFS, which falls under the NATCA National Rooming Policy?

The CFS Planning Committee will reserve your room per the information you provide during the registration process. You will be responsible for any fees incurred for incorrect data you entered into the reservation system; e.g., arrival and departure dates.

If you need to make any changes to your rooming type or roommate, please see the below section: “How do I CHANGE or CANCEL my CFS registration?”

Will NATCA pay for my hotel bill if I stay at a different hotel?

NO. If you choose to book your hotel room outside the of CFS registration process you will not be reimbursed for lodging.

I found a cheaper rate at a different hotel or at the same hotel, but not through the CFS website. Will NATCA pay for or reimburse my room expense?

NO. NATCA has contracted a block of rooms at $164 a night (plus tax), which includes all of the meeting space for the event along with additional services. If we do not fill this block of rooms, we are penalized, so even though you think you are saving NATCA money, you are not. Therefore, you will not be reimbursed if you book your own room.

Sharing a Room

I want to room with a specific NATCA member. Can I request this through the registration site?

The registration process will allow you to either input the name of the NATCA member that you want to share a room with, or you can request that we find you a NATCA member roommate. To make a requested roommate pairing successful both attendees must request to room with each other. No confirmation email will be sent out regarding roommates. The CFS registration team will contact you if there are any issues with your roommate request.
