BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The National Air Traffic Controllers Association Charitable Foundation (NCF) is electing members to serve on the Board of Directors.  The elections will take place on November 7, 2019. The three –year term will begin on January 1, 2020. There is no restriction to the number of terms served.  A Director must be a member in good standing of NATCA, as defined in Article III of NATCA’s National Constitution. This includes Active, Associate and Retired members. 

NATCA Charitable Foundation is run by its Executive Board, which includes 5 Directors and 4 Officers. One Director is NATCA’s EVP. The other 4 Directors are elected, by a combined vote of NATCA’s NEB & NCF’s current Board of Directors.  

Roles and Responsibilities of NCF Board of Directors

  • Responsible for the executive oversight of NCF. 
  • Determine the mission and purpose of NCF. 
  • Elect the NCF Officers in three-year terms off set one year from Board of Directors Election.   
  • Ensure effective planning and lead, monitor and strengthen programs and services.
  • Ensure adequate financial resources and provide proper financial oversight.
  • Build a competent board.
  • Ensure legal and ethical integrity. 
  • Enhance the foundation’s public standing. 

Directors are expected to attend the Annual Meeting, which is held at the NATCA National Office in November of each year, usually coinciding with the NEB’s November (budget) meeting. Directors are expected to be an active part of NCF, participating in committees, volunteering for events, voting online for things that come up between meetings, and participate in other activities that may come up.

EVENTS COMMITTEE VOLUNTEERS

The NATCA Charitable Foundation is seeking passionate, creative, and committed volunteers to be part of the NCF Events Committee. These volunteer positions are open to all NATCA members, friends and family over the age of 21. Event Committee members should be highly motivated to see tasks through from beginning to end with little oversight.  Members should prepare to start planning for each event at least 6 months in advance. Also, it is expected that members of this committee maintain a high level of communication with the Event Committee Chair, NCF President, and other members of the committee. 

The following is a description of responsibilities and expectations for this exciting opportunity:

  • Work with the lead and other members of the Events Committee to help brainstorm and plan activities and/or entertainment throughout the 3 major NATCA events (CFS, NiW, and convention) plus any other NCF Executive Board approved events.
  • Ideally, Event Committee Members would attend at least 1 major event each year to volunteer and get a comprehensive over view of what each event entails.  
  • Work with the NCF President and Treasurer (or designated NCF representative) to comply with budgetary constraints.
  • Participate in/hold planning meetings as necessary.  This could include travel one time per year or a number of telecons. 
  • Assist in obtaining sponsorships and donors, local businesses/vendors to co-sponsor/underwrite entertainment and prizes. 
  • Collaborate with the NATCA Event Committee Chair to ensure theme/presentation continuity.
  • Recruit other volunteers to help with events, including logistics, printing and supplies needed for planned events.
  • Coordinate with the NATCA Communications department on marketing, public relations and advertising of NCF events.
