NATCA Members Take Part in the Advanced Legislative Activism Training

Six NATCA members recently completed the two-day Advanced Legislative Activism Training (ALAT) course in Washington, D.C. The session provides NATCA members from across the country with in-depth instruction regarding legislative activism. Following the class, attendees put their training into action, meeting with Congressional representatives to discuss key issues impacting NATCA and the air traffic control profession.

Class instructor and National Legislative Committee (NLC) Vice Chair Allison Schwaegel (St. Louis ATCT, STL) said about the class, “It’s empowering to watch members take what we cover in the classroom and immediately put it to work on the Hill. You see their confidence grow as they realize that sharing their personal stories is the most powerful way to advocate for our profession.”

NLC Southwest Region Representative Corey Soignet (Houston Intercontinental ATCT, IAH), Anthony Schifano (Charlotte ATCT, CLT), Paul Behan (Jacksonville Center, ZJX), and Region X NLC Chair Jason Holland (Engineer/New England Region, ENE) were also instructors. The dates for 2026 classes are now available. Head here if you would like more information about dates and locations.
