July 7, 2017 // International Civil Aviation Organization: Competency-Based Training Workshop
NATCA Region X Alternate Regional Vice President and International Federation of Air Traffic Safety Electronics Associations (IFATSEA) Representative Ed Szczuka proudly represented NATCA at a Competency-Based Training Workshop hosted for air traffic controllers (ATCO) and air traffic safety electronics personnel (ATSEP) from around the world by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). The training was held in Bangkok, Thailand, from June 19-21.
The workshop trained participants on Amendment 4 to the Procedures for Air Navigation Services (PANS) document and the corresponding training manuals for ATCO and ATSEP. The International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers’ Associations (IFATCA) and IFATSEA were instrumental in providing comments to Amendment 4 as well as developing training manuals for ICAO.
Ed was one of seven instructors who led the workshop. Members of IFATCA, IFATSEA, NATCA, Professional Aviation Safety Specialists (PASS), Civil Air Navigation Services Organization (CANSO), and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) also developed the workshop. This was the fifth of eight planned workshops to be delivered at ICAO Regional Offices around the world this year.
