What is NATCA CISM?

What is NATCA CISM?

The NATCA CISM team is a Union-operated, Agency-supported group designed to help air traffic controllers effectively manage stress which may be experienced following a critical incident.

We are made up of 15 controllers (peers) and are covered by Article 74 of the contract.

We provide peer to peer support in the wake of incidents and accidents. Because we are controllers, we are better able to understand your experiences.

We are peer counselors trained in the Mitchell Model, a program developed by Dr. Jeffrey Mitchell. You can find more information about the program at ICISF.org (International Critical Incident Stress Foundation)

Sometimes we provide one-on-one support via phone conversations; sometimes we may travel to a facility where more than one controller has been affected. We also provide support for other events such as the death of a coworker.

Our goal is to help you get back to normal. We are here when you need us.
