U.S. Representative Suhas Subramanyam Tours Washington Center (ZDC)

U.S. Representative Suhas Subramanyam (Va.-10) recently visited Washington Center (ZDC) to meet air traffic controllers, observe operations, and better understand challenges ATCs face on the job. During his visit, Rep. Subramanyam witnessed unplanned equipment outages, traffic delays due to sector saturation, as well as coordination of military airspace.

Rep. Subramanyam was able to get first-hand experience as well, taking part in a simulated scenario. A group of NATCA members held a candid discussion with the congressman, sharing concerns about workforce stability, federal retirement benefits, and overall retention challenges. NATCA Eastern Region Vice President Mike Christine (ZDC), FacRep Aaron Wilt (ZDC), Facility Legislative Representative Arianna Bocci (ZDC) all took part in Rep. Subramanyam’s visit.
