Tell Congress: Protect America’s Airspace and End the Shutdown

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

We had hoped for a swift resolution to the standoff that has caused this government shutdown. Unfortunately, that does not appear likely at this time. NATCA is doing everything in our power to educate elected officials about the serious harm this shutdown is inflicting on our workforce, the aviation system, and the American public.

To amplify our message, we’ve launched a nationwide advocacy campaign, and we need every member to take part. Using the link below, please take a few minutes to email your elected officials and demand an immediate end to the government shutdown.

Ask your family members, friends, neighbors, and anyone in your social network to join us by using the same link. The more emails we send, the louder and clearer our collective voice will be heard. We are not advocating for or against any policy issues at play in this standoff—our sole focus is ending the shutdown to ensure that all of our members can perform their critical work with timely pay for their work.

Right now, there is no clear legislative path forward. The Senate is continuing to vote daily on competing continuing resolution packages and is expected to remain in session next week despite the scheduled recess. Meanwhile, the House of Representatives has been in recess since September 26 and is unlikely to return until there is movement in the Senate.

NATCA will continue to drive a strong education campaign through social media and traditional media outlets to highlight the negative effects to the National Airspace System, the cost to taxpayers, and the increased stress on our workforce inserting risk into the system. Our legislative team of activists and staff are working around the clock—but success depends on you.

Our strength has always come from the collective voice of our membership—united and speaking as one. Every member must take part: send emails when asked, make phone calls when needed, and stay informed. We cannot afford for anyone to sit on the sidelines.

Please take a moment right now to click the link below, send your email, and stay tuned for next steps.

In Solidarity,

David Skarphol
Chair, National Legislative Committee
