U.S. House of Representatives Passes Continuing Resolution to End Government Shutdown
The longest government shutdown in U.S. history will end tomorrow. This evening, the House of Representatives passed a bill that included a Continuing Resolution (CR) to fund the government through January 30, 2026, and three standalone appropriations bills. Monday, we notified you that that the Senate had passed the same bill. The President has indicated that he will sign the bill into law.
Employees who have been furloughed should receive notice from the agency regarding return-to-work. We will notify you as soon as the FAA advises us regarding pay distribution schedules.
NATCA’s National Legislative Committee, activists, and national office staff have been passionately advocating to end the shutdown since before it began. Our Union has long held that federal employees should not be used as pawns in policy disputes that have nothing to do with us.
Between now and January 30, we will continue to urge Congress to pass bipartisan and bicameral appropriations legislation to fund the FAA for the remainder of the fiscal year.
We will also continue to advocate with members of Congress to pass legislation that would ensure that government shutdowns no longer disproportionately harm our members by withholding pay from (1) federal employees who must continue to work during a shutdown, (2) federal employees who are furloughed, and (3) contractors, such as our Federal Contract Tower members who also perform excepted work.
We will continue to keep you updated about progress on these issues.
