NATCA Members Master the Business of Local Leadership in Secretary-Treasurer Training (STT)

Keeping a local running smoothly requires more than just passion — it requires a solid handle on the business side of the Union. Last month, NATCA members gathered at Harrah’s Las Vegas for the year’s first Secretary Treasurer Training (STT) to master the essentials of financial compliance and administrative leadership.

The course was held from Jan. 12–13 and focused on the behind-the-scenes work that keeps a local in good standing. Participants spent a day and a half diving into the nuances of Department of Labor and IRS regulations, while also learning effective communication strategies to keep their memberships informed. Instructors Mike DiFalco (Boston ATCT, BOS) and Rachel Gilmore (Indianapolis Center, ZID) led the class.

“It’s about so much more than just a financial ledger. It’s the pride and heart they pour into supporting their union family,” Gilmore said. “The energy in the room shows these members genuinely care about getting the details right for their brothers and sisters back home.”

Members interested in strengthening their local’s operations can find upcoming STT dates and other Academy courses at natca.org/academy.
